New guy with a slant back question

Hey everyone, I recently signed up for the forums and I've been reading through them, but this is my first post. I'm looking at picking up my first HMMWV in the next few weeks and I've got a question before I buy. I've decided I definitely want a slant back, but I'm not sure on the route I should take to get it. I love the look and functionality of the OEM steel top and back, but I've seen everyone talking about how badly they leak. Even in pictures you can usually see daylight around the edges of the slant back when looking from inside. The one thing I can't figure out is the cause though. Can the leaks be fixed? Is it just a matter of swapping in new seals, realigning things etc. Or is it just an inherent problem that you'll likely never be able to fix?

My other option is to go with something like the Plan B Supply top and slant back kit, which I'm under the impression won't leak, but it just doesn't look as good to me as the original. Plus, I would like to put a roof rack on top and I'm not sure how an aluminum top will hold up with that.

I'm curious as to what you guys think. If you wanted a slant back, would you dish out the extra cash up front for something like a MA2 that has the milspec top and hatch or spend less and get something like a M998 (I know it's got less payload etc) with a soft top and go with an aftermarket setup like Plan B or something?

I appreciate the feedback!

Hunter 240 rigging and mast slant to rear questions

Hi Guys,

Have what I hope to be a couple of quick questions. Has anyone ever used a LOOS gauge (gauge that tells how taught standing rigging is set) to set their rigging by, and can you share the values?

Next question, The last few feet of my mast seems to sweep backwards when installed on the boat. Laying on the hard it is perfectly straight. Do you think the front stay is to loose, or is this a normal characteristic of this rigging system where it is fractional rigged with no back stay? I am running the factory roller furling on the front which makes true tension a little challenging to tell. Due to location it was hard to snap a photo. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron
