We assemble steel parts together. Most often with rotating ends. We just use a bit (more often 3 in 1 oil which I am now having to buy by the case - 12 8 oz bottles), but it adds up. Today, also about grade 8 bolts in 3 sizes, were found in a crate. With black oxide finish. Those had to be sprayed and wiped down. Mainly just for appearance. Also about pounds of rolled steel that was cut into thin discs and black-oxided. I use a thin layer of WD-40 to prevent rust. We use the discs to insure balance of weight on various things we make. We're near the ocean, so things rust. So mainly for rust-retardation. Also some steel plates that we use to weld to the end of steel bars to hold things on them. These had to be WD-40'd because to have them remachined to give them a good appearance would've been expensive. Once WD-40'd, then into heavy mill plastic bags and crated up. Also other pieces of steel need to be coated, after they're black-oxided, and before they're put into plastic/cardboard tubes on racks.

edit: also running about 3 saws in constant use. Two large Amadas and a Haberle chop. Some of those need WD-40 at certain times, for certain uses. I'm trying to keep everything as clean as possible because it prevents down-time and the economy being what it is, we can't afford to stop production. Plus we eventually go through the stuff, and little bottles add up. I'd rather by in bulk, esp. if I can save money. Every trip to the store is wasted time.

We clean urethane with acetone and we're going through 6 1 gallon cans in 2-4 weeks time. So time for the 5 gallon acetone on that will have to be set up soon too!
